Funding snapshot - January 2012
BlueJam has just heard from Youth Music about a funding proposal for mentoring young musicians. Unfortunately we were unsuccessful. BlueJam has some small bits of work coming our way but not enough sustain our presence in the Foyer - ie pay for the office rent. Wehave given notice, so unless something comes up we will be leaving at the end of February. It has been really useful being based at the Foyer and they have been really supportive. We will still be around however - somewhere! BlueJam rules!
Funding snapshot - September 2011
Just had really bad news that Youth Music has turned down our application for funding through the Open Programme. I will post our reactions to this and ideas for how we can survive very soon! But BlueJam is fit and well at this time of posting.
Funding snapshot - Christmas 2010
In this time of uncertainty I have been asked by a lot of concerned people about whether BlueJam will survive the cuts.
At the moment we are very grateful for support from Francis C Scott Trust which will cover our office rent till 2012 and enable us to stay based at Eden Rural Foyer.
It is such a good place to be based as it offers us a supportive environment to work with all ages who feel welcome and safe and valued.
We are in the middle of our Young Roots Vintage Contemporary project which will finish in the summer. Otherwise we have no direct funding for activities.
What we do have though, are some Service Agreements to deliver workshops for the Sage Gateshead (Vocal Union), for Heritage Lottery (processional band), for Awards for All (transition workshops) and for Creative Partnerships.
We also have agreements with local primary schools to deliver after-school sessions and with other youth and community groups.
We have the perennial problem of no core-funding, which I as Director must take responsibility for not being able to find, but have a great team of leaders and volunteers who together manage to keep the whole thing afloat.
Thanks to everyone who makes BlueJam what it is,
Jilly Jarman
